GETTING TO TASMANIA

As Australia's only island state, access to Tasmania is by air and sea only. Regular flights depart from most capital centres and fly direct to Hobart. Alternatively many visitors travel to Tasmania from Melbourne by sea on the Spirit of Tasmania. Departing from Melbourne and arriving in Devonport, this has the added benefit of letting you bring your own car and make the most of Tasmania's touring potential.

GETTING TO THE TASTE

Salamanca Place (on-street parking)
Open 24 hours, Sunday to Friday, and Saturday from 6 pm (closed Saturday 5 am – 6 pm during the Salamanca Market).
2-hour time limit and fees apply Monday to Friday 8.30 am – 6 pm and Sunday 9 am – 4 pm (unless otherwise signed).

Salamanca Square (lower ground level 4-hour limit) - subject to change.
Open:   8.30am – 8.00pm, 7 days.
3-hour limit and fees apply 8.30 am – 6 pm Sunday to Friday and 9 am – 5 pm Saturday for market parking.
Note: there is no vehicle entry after 8 pm and the car park is locked to prevent pedestrian entry after 10 pm

Uber/Ride-share pick up points

Main pick up location is in front of Customs House on Morrison Street (opposite Brooke Street Pier)
2nd pick up point outside the Retro Cafe on Montpelier Retreat (this is for 29, 30, 1, 2 and 3)
2nd pick up point on Davey Street, just before the turn off to Salamanca Place (for 28th and 31st only)

Accessible Parking And Drop-Off Area 

Accessible parking will be available during The Taste of Tasmania in the Murray Street car park (off Morrison street) and will be limited to four hours. Bookings are not required.  A drop-off area will also be available in the same spot for families, older people and people with a disability. Drivers will then need to find a place to park permanently.

The Regatta Grounds   
McVilly Drive, Hobart

Open 10 am – midnight (and on New Year’s Eve until 2 am).  
It is a 7 minute walk to the festival precinct.

Public Transport

Located just a 5 minute walk from the Hobart City Bus Interchange in Elizabeth Street, getting a bus is one of the easiest ways to get here. You can plan your trip with Metro Tasmania.

New Year’s Eve Information: After 6pm additional Metro services will depart from Salamanca Place and Davey St. Timetable information for the additional services will be released closer to the date.
